Rod Stewart & T.Rex at Pop 2

There are ups and downs at Pop 2, though the average production tends to quality. We have to ackwoledge the producers their freedom in regards of short lived fashions and hits.

Depending on their financial credits they choose the bands they film and even make them come to Paris when needed and possible.

It has been the case with Rod Stewart and the Faces who gave an excellent entertainment at the 'Taverne de l'Olympia' with a mix of hard rock violence ( remember Stewart has been singing for the Jeff Beck Group ) and american country music. Only musical quality had counted in that choice and we have to compliment Pop2 people for that. There's some risk there for them.

To balance this rashness they also had invited T.Rex ( ex Tyrannosaurus Rex ) who's 'Ride a white swan' is selling millions. But here again it is a good choice, such a commercial success does not inevitably mean prostitution. T.Rex proved so much during those long years of darkness, they deserve some limelight today.

The band has put some rock into their folk, without losing any of the charm their delicate and ancient music.

The choice of this two bands, so different, is well reflecting the problems and contradictions met by the Pop2 team. They need to conceede with fashion to stay alive but they manage keeping a good quality level, except for their sound!
