Marc Bolan was born in Hackney, UK, on
30th September 1947.
He started his artistic carreer
writing fantasy tales. His last Record, "Electric Warrior"
is named after one of his characters, in one of his early
writings. It is the same for "The Children Of Rarn".
By 1968 Marc decided founding a band
and join forces with one of his friends, a percussionist,
Mickey Finn. Tyrannosaurus Rex was born. The duet will
release five LPS, all of them simple, direct, mainly
accoustic, wher the music melts with symbolic and
surrealistic lyrics.
Despite their great quality, they will
not chart, not until "Ride A White Swan" from their 5th LP.
This one is played on the English radios and gently, slowly,
climbs the charts. This inspire Bolan who stops attempting
at writng movie scripts and devote himself to his musical
carreer only. He shortens the band's name to T.Rex, switches
to electic guitar and starts moving away from "Flower
Power". He adds a bassist and writes a string of hits that
raise more than popularity, a true mania such as
Beatlemania, once. With "Get It On", "Jeepster" and
"Telegram Sam" Marc has become a huge star and is surfing on
"T.Rexmania", or should I say "Bolanmania"?
