#68, september 1972 | |
This issue of Rock et Folk, the only one ever with Bolan on the cover, was associated with two planned concerts on 4th September at 7H30 and 10H30 pm (as reported on the 'Telegrams' page of the issue). Unfortunately, both concerts were canceled. The article begins with the story of London's rejuvenated music scene, thanks to T.Rex. The report actually begins with a review of Edgar Winter, the Speakeasy and the Ronnie Scott's Clubs...
A short visit to London where things seem to finally be rolling again. London, the town where a child named Marc is prince. A few words with him before he comes to Paris, and some other musicals things, too. .
There's a small, unimposing, but
bright, door with a well polished copper plate
which reveals little except for the reflection
of a shiny sun. And a narrow staircase within
the impeccable doll house that leads to a
small office where a tall unsmiling young
woman with pale complexion and green nails, a
little frightening, promptly serves tea. Three
small Japanese women bid farewell to Marc
Bolan with a customary bow.
They came all the way from Japan to record
the boastings of their amicable host
on their tiny recorders and snap full color
photographs of their encounter.
"We will soon tour Japan. It is funny, for months I was looking at the charts over there and never saw our name; only local artists, again and again. I had finally given up with your country when I was told that they were two separate classifications and that we had sold... nine million discs there! (greedy smile). And they pay very well." |
